English plays an important role in our everyday life. There is great utility of English in modern world. It is a global language.
The Department of English has been functioning since the establishment of the Institution by offering Part II language programme for other disciplines.It has emerged as a full-fledged Department by introducing B.A English Literature programme in the academic year of 2017-18. English language lab established in 2009.It has been used to develope the proficiency in language components & skills.Recently ,under M.G.R Nootrandu vizha Scheme three rooms have been constructed for U.G programme. Experienced,qualified and dedicated staff in the department make remarkable constributions for the growth and success of the department.

- Providing essential literary knowledge and laugauge skills.
- Making students efficient in communication skills.
- Imparting essential skills for jobs in public as well as private sectors.

- To provide opportunities to develope students communication skills
- Provides opportunities to practice creative writing
- To make the students to understand the role of literature in the development of society
